Top 5 medical colleges in Kerala
There are 5 government medical colleges and around 20 other medical colleges including private and co-operative colleges in kerala at present.But none of the colleges in private sector has come to the top level excet the amrita institute of medical sciences.The amrita institute of medical sciences comes in the top 15 medical colleges in India because of its high quality infrastructure and faculty compared to the poorly funded government colleges.Still in my view some of the government colleges are in the top levels sue to highly experienced faculty and lakhs and lakhs of poor patients with variety of diseases.You will not get that much of exposure in a private college.Lets see which all colleges have come to the top level.
1.Government medical college,Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum)
2.Government medical college,Calicut
3.Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences,Ernakulam
4.Government medical college,Kottayam
5.Government medical college,Thrissur
In my view most of the private medical colleges are like schools where the students are spoonfed by the teacher.Medicine is strictly not a subject that can be injected into the student's brains.It is just by experience;without seeing the diseases one can not understand medicine.That is where a private medical college student fails;he can not diagnose a disease which he hasn't seen yet.With poor number of patients(that is too paying patients) how many students can learn the subject.This problem never occurs in a government college as there are tons of cases coming to each hospital.
